About TeslaSound
What it is
TeslaSound is a website that gives your Tesla the sound of a gas engine. A V8, V12 or flat-six (or an electric buzz) plays through the car's speakers and follows your real speed: it idles, revs when you accelerate, shifts gears and crackles when you lift off.
How to use it in a Tesla
- Park and open teslasound.io in the Tesla browser. Bookmark it.
- Press Start engine and allow location access. The engine is driven by GPS speed.
- Turn up the media volume and drive.
- Stopped at a light? Hold Rev to blip the throttle.
There is nothing to install and no account to make.
How it works
The sound is not a recording or a loop. It is synthesized live in your browser from your speed: a model of the engine's firing order, exhaust pulses, pipes, intake and gearbox. Your location is used only inside your browser to measure speed and is never sent anywhere.
Price
Free for 5 minutes of engine time every day. TeslaSound Pro gives unlimited engine time on up to 2 cars and devices, costs $3 per month plus tax, and can be cancelled any time. Payments are handled by Stripe.
Where it works
Model 3, Model Y, Model S, Model X and Cybertruck, other electric cars with a modern web browser, and a phone connected to the car speakers over Bluetooth. It plays inside the car, like music. A web page cannot use the outside Boombox speaker.
